117 Stars - The New Song I Wrote about Trump's Abhorrent Visit to the CIA

117 Stars Single Cover Square JPEG.jpgOn the second day of his presidency, Donald Trump visited the CIA. I was away in Richmond, wanting nothing to do with the chaos of an inauguration weekend in Washington, DC. As I read the news about his first and second day in office, I was horrified to hear what happened when he visited the most sacred place in the entire Intelligence Community-the CIA Memorial Wall. After hearing from multiple people there, reading the transcript, and watching the video of his speech, I can describe his visit in one word: abhorrent. I could also use appalling, disgusting, disgraceful, disrespectful, and others, but I'll stop there. The man spoke about the size of the crowd at his inauguration, how he was such a fan of the CIA, and how he was with the CIA "1000%." In fact, he said, "There's nobody I respect more." This, of course, coming shortly after Trump related the Intelligence Community to Nazi Germany and said that the IC was purposefully leaking classified information. According to sources at the event, the reason there was so much applause heard on the video is because Vice President Pence started the applause, and the audience joined in. It's almost as if Pence was Trump's propaganda minister...Considering I've been to the wall a number of times, spent numerous hours during memorial ceremonies and visits, including a visit of former President George H.W. Bush along with then-Director John Brennan, the wall is a special place to me. So, Trump's visit hurt me deeply. So deeply, in fact, that I wrote a song about it. Here are the lyrics:

Saturday morning on a dreary day,Your second day, you're on the way,Up GW, through the gateTo the agency that you hate.

Coming down perimeter road,Here you are, the mother lode. Now it's time, you see the seal,In you walk to OHB.

You show up smug and grim,Make your visit on a whim,With your brownshirt deputyTo spit and shout, make them believeThat you and the media are in a war.Stoke the flames so you get more.400 trolls live on the floor.117 who died before.

Stand up and spew your hate. You don't think, don't contemplate.Jeer and laugh and joke around. Those on the wall are looking down.

You show up smug and grim,Make your visit on a whim,With your brownshirt deputyTo spit and shout, make them believeThat you and the media are in a war.Stoke the flames so you get more.400 trolls live on the floor.117 who died before.
