On This Day of Thanks, Here is What I'm Grateful For
I am thankful for my wife, Abby, who supports me, loves me, and is a wonderful partner in my life.I'm thankful for my family, my brother Garrett, my mom Sue, my dad Dave and my grandfather Art, in particularly. I'm thankful my cousins are doing well. I'm thankful for my extended family in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.I'm thankful for my friends, particularly Andrew, for being so willing to come to DC at any opportunity he has, so we can hang out.I'm thankful for my health, the opportunities I've had in life, the experiences I've gained, and my financial well-being. I'm thankful for being able to wake up each day in the United States of America, despite our recent political polarization, because being born in North Korea, China, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, or another country with an oppressive autocracy or dictatorship would be much worse. This year, I'm incredibly thankful for the Sitar Arts Center and what it does for hundreds of children across Washington D.C., children who don't have the opportunities I had when I was their age. Sitar is a place that provides hope to those who have none. It is a place that grows, develops, and molds children into young adults and sets up those children for lives of success and opportunity.I'm particularly thankful for the Sitar Arts Center because of the opportunity the staff gave me this year. After numerous attempts to find a local DC bookstore to host the launch party for my book, Get After It, Sitar opened its doors, charged me nothing, and supported the event.Just like they had done for so many children, Sitar gave me a chance when no one else would. For those who didn't attend the event, the video below is my small piece of gratitude to Sitar, its staff, and everything it does for underprivileged children.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR5c5irpLWA&feature=youtu.be
